Hendrik Kleine Masselink emigrated to the United States in 1882 and was about 53 years old when the above picture was taken. Hendrik was the last of three brothers (Jan, Harm and Hendrik) to emigrate from Grafschaft Bentheim to the USA.
From his picture above, you can see his purported piercing eyes and that his hair that was already turning quite gray.
Like his father, Gerrit Hendrik Kleine Masselink, he was also a Colon (Independent Farmer) of the farm in Hardinghausen, Grafschaft Bentheim. All five of his children were born in Grafschaft Bentheim and all five children emigrated from Germany to Michigan.

1882 Hendrick marries his second wife, Altie Ratterank Atman, in Germany before emigrating to Michigan; No children
1882 Nov 8: Hendrik emigrates with his wife, his four unmarried daughters and Etta Johanna Poets (his son Gerrit Hendrik's future wife) from Antwerp, Belgium to New York on the ship Belgenland and then travel by train to Allegan County, MI. Hendrick purchases 31 acres of farmland in Laketown Township, Allegan, MI where "for some years he followed agricultural pursuits successfully". Hendrik is also known as Henry Masselink in the U.S. See below for a picture of the Belgenland.
18?? Hendrik has a pig farm on Black Lake (now Lake Macatawa) in Holland, MI.
1887 Hendrik's stepson John A. Atman (son of his second wife, Altie Ratterank Atman) emigrates from Germany to Allegan County, MI.
1891 John Atman owns 60 acres of rich farmland in Laketown Township, Allegan County, MI. Hendrik (age 78) and his wife Altie (age 74) live in their old age with John Atman. They are also members of the Christian Reformed Church.
1907 Oct 31 Hendrick dies in Graafschaap, MI.
