These are the known Kleine Masselinks and Masselinks of the Netherlands. Over time, their surname evolved from Kleine Masselink to Maslink to Masselink. All of the Dutch Kleine Masselink/Masselink Clan members are blood related and descend from two Clans: That of Jan and that of Janna.
After reading the above 'HISTORY' Tab and sub-tabs, you know that the first person to use the Masselink surname was the founder of the two Masselink Farms in Vasse and Mander, NL around the year 804 (not 1804) and that we can trace the Masselink genealogy by name to Harmen, who was born around 1660. You also know that while all Masselinks share the same surname, we are not all are blood related. That is because the 'Masselink' surname originated as a name of a farm, and as was the custom before permanent hereditary last names became common, anyone working on these two farms often took 'Masselink' as their permanent last name even though they were not blood related to either the farm owners or to any of their fellow farm workers. With that in mind, lets proceed to these two Dutch blood related Kleine Masselink/Masselink Clans.
Probably sometime after the year 1400, somebody who had an ancestor that both worked on an original Vasse and/or Mander Masselink Farm and who retained the surname Masselink over the centuries, received a hereditary leasehold (not ownership) to a farm in the farming community now known as Hardinghausen, Grafschaft Bentheim, Lower Saxony, Germany. Unfortunately, we can only trace our ancestors by name for some 14 generations to around the year 1660, as our family records were lost when the Uelsen Town Hall in Grafschaft Bentheim was sacked during the Thirty Years’ War, (1618-1648), which was a series of wars fought by some European nations because of various religious, dynastic, territorial, and commercial rivalries.
