In an old harbour building looking, Leendert Masselink works on his divers and colorful portfolio in design and illustration. Leendert Masselink is a (Graphic) artist and freelance illustrator/designer for magazines, newspapers, campagnes and products who has an exhibition several times a year in the Netherlands and abroad.
Straight from the capitol of The Netherlands: Amsterdam, Leendert Masselink is running his one-man studio 'illurama'. In a former harbor building, looking out over the river, Leendert is working on a constant stream of illustrations in commission for magazines, newspapers and book covers. Besides his work for clients he also keeps up working and experimenting on his free art- or design-works. Contributing to a series of group-and duoshows Leendert's artworks were to be seen in a.o. Amsterdam, New York, Hong Kong and Hamburg. Due to his years of experience in the art, illustration and design field Leendert also got asked by several Dutch art schools to give lectures and classes to art students. His artwork usually shows a combination of handdrawn and digital techniques, in style there is often a combination of humour and a more serious approach. Leendert Masselink's work breathes fun and poetry at the same time.
Highlights in Studio Illurama in no particular order:
-Receiving a subsidy from the Artfund when I just graduated from Artschool to start my business, receving a subsidy was an honour.
-My Tablecloth 'S.O.S. Dinnertime' & pillows 'Sit on it' were shown in a Dutch Design show in The Museum for Fashion And Technology in New York. Illurama in the Big Apple!
-Being chosen from over 70 designers to do the whole campagne for Kunstbende, a huge cultural battle for creative youngsters in The Netherlands.
-Participating with free artwork in groupshows in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Zurich and New York
-Being asked to teach students or be involved with final exams in Artschools in Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle, Groningen en Enschede
-Being able to live from my illustration- and designwork year after year after year
